Literature Text

Amyuelis:

Backward she falls,
Out of that tree
That tree.

Eyes closed against forever,
Arms open to embrace her fate.
She falls naturally, gracefully.

Landing hard on the Winter snow;
Blood escaping the crown,
To soak the soil.

He stands there
Rooted by shock,
By fear.

She herself lies motionless in white.

Saying nothing,
For no longer
Does she have the breath.

He screams her name…

"Fool," whispers the tree, "you could have saved her."
the title of this poem is pronounce: Ahm-you-Elis(like Elis Island)

I have no idea where the name came from, so please don't ask =P

This is my very first poem on DA, so please be gentle with the comments :)

Well, I really like this. It flows pretty well, and I enjoy the imagery, or, to be more precise, the absence of it. It's like one of those grainy film reels, playing without the sound. I also appreciate that, even though there isn't any context, the poem still has meaning and emotion. There's one bit that I want to point out, though. "Saying nothing / for no longer / does she have the breath." The rest of the poem is really heavy on metaphor and word connotation, but this particular stanza is much more literal. It quite threw me off. That aside, I think this is a very good poem, and I'm glad that I read it.
